ADOLESCENT PROGRAM

Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP)

The Genesis Behavioral Health Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program is an evidenced-based, professionally directed, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery program provided to adolescents and their caregivers who are in need of mental health or substance use services in an organized outpatient setting.

Some of the topics that are explored are: self-esteem and belonging, identity and values, dealing with loss and depression, autonomy & interdependence, managing anxiety, peer relationships, and healthy family relationships.

As a parent, it is difficult to navigate through a behavioral health system that seems so overwhelming and unclear. It is normal to be fearful and confused. Who can help you locate the right providers and services for your adolescent? We may be able to help or guide you in the right direction.

Our Program Focus

Adolescent Mental Health including:
  • Mood disorders
  • Substance Abuse Disorders, and
  • Family Related Issues

Why Participate in an IOP Program?

Intensive Outpatient services are designed to serve as an increase in care from once-a-week outpatient therapy or as a step-down from a higher level of care (acute care hospitalization or residential services). Genesis IOP provides individualized treatment plans and utilizes Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness-Based Therapy in treatment.

Would my child qualify for the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program?

  • Is my adolescent experiencing any of these issues: depression, anxiety, self-harm, substance abuse, issues with peer relationships, stress management, behavioral issues, grief, family conflict or self-esteem/confidence?
  • Is my adolescent having limited to no progress with their individual counseling?
  • Is my adolescent needing or requesting to be seen 2 times a week?
  • If you answered yes to these questions, call (225) 327-1704 for a phone consultation.

What Makes Genesis Unique?

We collaborate with outpatient providers throughout the treatment process. Clients must continue to see their individual therapist and psychiatrist during treatment to maintain the therapeutic relationship for continuity of care. We offer medication management services in our Metairie office and through telehealth. We believe that involvement with parents and caregivers is crucial when accomplishing positive outcomes. In the parenting meetings, you learn skills that will help you set boundaries, validate, and increase communication with your adolescent. We have a Baton Rouge and Metairie location, as well as a virtual option for families that live in surrounding areas. We follow strengths-based and LGBTQ+ affirmative practices.
