Dr. Thompson is a native of Chicago, Illinois. She earned her medical degree from The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. After learning about the disparity in the mental health system that was still present years after Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Thompson felt compelled to help bridge this gap so she moved to New Orleans to complete her General Psychiatry Residency at Tulane University. After falling in love with the people and culture in Southeastern Louisiana she then stayed at Tulane and completed a Fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, where she served as Chief Resident from 2013-2014. Upon completion of her medical training Dr. Thompson moved to Baton Rouge in 2014 to practice near her mentor, Renee M. Bruno, MD.

Tanya's passion for mentoring and teaching has led her to serve as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the LSU School of Medicine. Previously, she had served as an Adjunct Professor at LSU in the MSW Program. As co-owner of both The Maples and Genesis Behavioral Health Services, Tanya provides training sites for psychiatrists and master-level therapist internships to learn while gaining valuable experience. Tanya and her team of healthcare professionals practice the highest level of care with respect, integrity, and professionalism.

Natalie Bliss
Psychiatrist, MD
Dr. Natalie Bliss received her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2017 and completed her psychiatry residency at LSU in 2021. She is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She worked for the past two years at Ochsner Baptist hospital. She has experience teaching psychiatry residents. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. She also wrote a monthly article on medical topics for Essex Fells magazine for six years.

Dr. Bliss enjoys helping individuals and families who are struggling to find balance in their home, work, or school life. She helps patients with trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts and compulsions, self-harm behaviors, cognitive dysfunction, and interpersonal issues. She has experience in helping women during pregnancy and the postpartum period. While she provides brief therapy during sessions, her primary focus is in diagnosis and medication management. She is trained in general psychiatry giving her the flexibility to diagnose patients with psychiatric disorders and give medication options. Her treatment plan considers the psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being of her patients. Her ultimate goal for each patient is to give him or her the tools for a purpose-driven and meaningful life.

Stephanie Eberts is a counselor at Genesis Behavioral Health Services. She earned her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Georgia State University and her master's degree from Loyola University, New Orleans.
She has worked in group homes, K-12 Education, higher education, and private practice. She has held leadership positions in national professional organizations and is a regular presenter at the regional, national, and international level. She presents on topics related to school counseling, group work, play therapy, and crisis and trauma. She has published multiple book chapters and journal articles. After years of working in higher education, she is delighted to return to the clinical setting.

Thomas Cowan

Tom Cowan is a counselor with a background in experiential education and a wide range of experience working with adolescents and adults in a variety of therapeutic settings. Tom currently practices individual talk therapy at Genesis Behavioral Health, as well as group therapy and other social services at River Oaks Hospital. Tom’s current work primarily focuses on dealing with addiction, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Tom’s approach to therapy is down to earth and rational, yet open to all forms of self expression, including humor and anger.
